Etna DOC Wines — Light and Fire
Altitude, volcanic minerality and the breath of the Mediterranean — in every bottle.
Why Etna stands alone in the world
The uniqueness of Etna wines is born from an unrepeatable mix of three elements. No other terroir in the world has all three together.
Altitude
The vineyards climb to over 1,000 metres. The strong temperature swings between day and night give the wines a rare elegance and intense aromas — almost "Nordic" despite the Sicilian latitude.
Minerality
The soil is pure volcanic sand — ash and lapilli. It gives the wine a vibrant savouriness, a mineral tension and an almost "fiery" or ferrous note found in no other terroir in the world.
Exposure & Sea
Etna faces the Mediterranean. The proximity to the sea tempers the climate, while the North and East slopes allow a slow, steady ripening — a perfect balance of power and freshness.
Etna Rosso DOC Organic
Our Etna Rosso is made from Nerello Mascalese grapes, with a small portion of Nerello Cappuccio, from the Contrada Bonanno on the northern slope of Etna. A wine with the typical ruby red colour, fine, elegant and with great freshness — an authentic expression of the Etna volcanic territory.
The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of October and vinified in steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts. Approximately 10 days of maceration and frequent pumping over extract colour, polyphenols and precious aromas. Malolactic fermentation and 8–9 months' maturation in barriques refine the aromatic bouquet. After Etna DOC certification, the wine rests in bottle for a further 12 months before release.
Etna Bianco DOC Organic
Our Etna Bianco is made from Carricante grapes from the Arcuria and Guardiola vineyards on the northern slope of Etna. Bright straw yellow in colour, it offers aromas of grapefruit, mint and tropical fruits with spiced notes. On the palate it is elegant, with great savouriness, and capable of evolving and improving over several years.
Grapes are harvested by hand in mid-October. The destemmed grapes macerate at low temperature for 24 hours on the skins to favour aromatic extraction. The must ferments in steel tanks at 14–16°C for approximately 4 months on the fermentation yeasts. After Etna DOC certification, the wine ages for a further 4 months in bottle before commercial release.
Etna Rosato DOC Organic
Our Etna Rosato is made from Nerello Mascalese grapes from the Corvo vineyard on the northern slope of Etna. Its vibrant cadmium pink colour is luminous, with a fresh and seductive aromatic profile featuring strawberry, morello cherry and raspberry.
Grapes are harvested by hand in mid-October. The destemmed grapes macerate for 8 hours at low temperature on the skins to favour aromatic extraction. After clarification, the must ferments in steel tanks at 14–16°C for approximately 5 months on the fermentation yeasts. After DOC certification, the wine ages 3 months in bottle before release.
